Michael Cater, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Cater is a native Californian having been born and reared in Pasadena.  He received his medical
degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed his residency in pediatrics at the
University of California, Irvine.  Upon completion of his residency training he spent two years in the U.S.
Army as Chief of Medicine and Pediatrics at the U. S. Army Regional Hospital in Okinawa, Japan.  
Following his military experience, he moved to Orange County in 1975 to begin his private practice in
pediatrics.
Dr. Cater is an active participant in the pediatric training program at the Children’s Hospital of Orange
County.  As an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UCI he has received The Outstanding Clinical
Instructor Award on five occasions.  He was awarded The Outstanding Pediatrician Award by Orange
County magazine in 1998.  
Dr. Cater has been involved in the Medical Staff administration at CHOC and served as its Secretary
and Chairman of the Credentials Committee for six years.  Within the community, Dr. Cater served as
the physician representative on the Tustin Unified School District (TUSD) Committee on Alcohol and
Substance Abuse and currently is the physician consultant for the TUSD Immunization Clinic and The
Laurel House, a respite home for troubled adolescents.
Dr. Cater enjoys fishing, basketball, carpentry, photography and astronomy.
