Dr. Tang is Chinese in origin and grew up in Argentina. Her parents
immigrated to South America when she was eleven years old. She
received her medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires,
Argentina, and started her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital
in Buenos Aires. She then came to the United States and finished her
pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
After her residency she joined our practice as a full-time pediatrician.
Dr. Tang is board certified in pediatrics. She is trilingual (English,
Spanish and Mandarin) and in her free time she enjoys jogging, music,
and reading.
Dr. Tang believes in treating the patient as a whole and not just the
symptoms.

Meet Our Physicians & Staff
Dr. Bruner is a native of Minnesota. She matriculated at Luther College,
Decorah, Iowa, graduating Magna Cum Laude. After receiving her
medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical School, Omaha,
she continued her medical training at the University of California, Irvine.
While there she distinguished herself by receiving the Intern of the Year
Award.  Upon completion of her residency training at UCI pursued
post-graduate training in Pulmonology at the Brompton Hospital,
London, England.
Upon completion of her postgraduate training, Dr. Bruner accepted a
position as Staff Pediatrician in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at
CHOC. She joined the Pediatric and Adolescent Medical Group in
January 1989. Since that time the group has undergone several name
changes, a change of location, and outside ownership, but Dr. Bruner
has been there for her patients through it all.
Dr. Cater is a native Californian having been born and reared in
Pasadena.  He received his medical degree at Loma Linda University
School of Medicine and completed his residency in pediatrics at the
University of California, Irvine.  Upon completion of his residency
training he spent two years in the U.S. Army as Chief of Medicine and
Pediatrics at the U. S. Army Regional Hospital in Okinawa, Japan.  
Following his military experience, he moved to Orange County in 1975
to begin his private practice in pediatrics.
Dr. Cater is an active participant in the pediatric training program at the
Children’s Hospital of Orange County.  As an Associate Professor of
Pediatrics at UCI he has received The Outstanding Clinical Instructor
Award on five occasions.  He was awarded The Outstanding
Pediatrician Award by Orange County magazine in 1998.  
Dr. Cater has been involved in the Medical Staff administration at CHOC
and served as its Secretary and Chairman of the Credentials Committee
for six years.  Within the community, Dr. Cater served as the physician
representative on the Tustin Unified School District (TUSD) Committee
on Alcohol and Substance Abuse and currently is the physician
consultant for the TUSD Immunization Clinic and The Laurel House, a
respite home for troubled adolescents.
Dr. Cater enjoys fishing, basketball, carpentry, photography and
astronomy
Dr. Gutrecht was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She graduated from
the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine. She completed her
internship at the Lukes-Miller Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota and her
residency in Pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Gutrecht then began an academic career at West Virginia University
and moved to California in 1976, joining the Faculty of the Department
of Pediatrics at the University of California Irvine Medical School. In
1980 she entered private practice and continued teaching at UCI. She
has authored several scientific papers and chapters in pediatric books.
She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics, and member of
several national and international societies. She is a Clinical Professor
of Pediatrics at UCI Medical School. She has been and is chair and
member of different committees at UCIMC, St. Joseph’s Hospital, CHOC
and Western Medical Center.
Dr. Lan was born and raised in Los Angeles.  He majored in biology and
Russian at Stanford University, receiving honors for his studies in Slavic
languages and graduating with distinction.  He then attended medical
school at the University of California, San Diego, where his pursuits
included participation in the tobacco prevention section of the “Doctors
Ought to Care” program, volunteer work at free clinics in Tijuana,
Mexico, and clinical trial research at Children’s Hospital San Diego.  He
received a Masters degree in Public Health from U.C. Berkeley in the
division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology with an emphasis in Maternal
and Child Health.  While at Berkeley, Dr. Lan was awarded a fellowship
from the Max Factor Family Foundation to pursue studies in the field of
injury and violence prevention.  He completed his pediatric residency at
the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento where he received the
Dennis Styne Academic Achievement Award, given to a graduating
senior resident by faculty vote.  He is proficient in Spanish, Russian and
mandarin Chinese.  Dr. Lan is an avid classical musician, playing the
violin and viola, and enjoys collecting fun ties and cartoon figures to
wear at work.
Dr. Mackey is a native of Southern California and was raised in Whittier.
He graduated from the University of California, Irvine receiving his
Bachelor of Science degree and Excellence in Research Honors.  He
received his medical degree at the University of California San Diego
School of Medicine. While in medical school, Dr. Mackey was very
involved in adolescent health education, coordinating the “Doctors
Ought to Care” program, which educates adolescents regarding risk
taking behaviors. Dr. Mackey then returned to Orange County to
complete his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Orange
County.
Dr. Mackey volunteers his time as the advising pediatrician for Mary’s
Shelter a group home for pregnant and teen mothers, and their
children.
Dr. Mackey enjoys cycling, hiking, and kayaking in his free time. He is
married and has three children.
